I love receiving gift cards as gifts, don’t you? It is so convenient to use them for what you really want or need. I love giving them as gifts too. Did you know that Target has done a little research, and found that 90% of people love receiving a gift card as a gift, but only 30% of people feel good about giving one? So in order to help your loved ones get what they really want this year I want to show you 3 creative ways to give a gift card:
The first is for the wanderer in your life. You know the one. You never know where they are. And when you get to see them they tell you about their recent hike up an active volcano / encounter with a shark / currency exchange debacle / amazing friends they made in a hostel. All their Facebook and Instagram photos are in exotic locations. Maybe they have a glowing natural tan in the middle of winter. You know the type. I love those adventurous friends, but they can be a little difficult to buy for… what do they need, that is also packable in their carry-on (cuz real travel types go carry-on only), and what is the climate like on their next adventure? No worries guys, they need a Target GiftCard®. And here is how you give it to them:
Target has these cool luggage tags, and apparently a matching “Seasons Greetings” Target GiftCard®. Sweet.
You will need to get the tag off the card without destroying the hang card. So, you simply slip your finger under the luggage tag string.
Then slip the string over the tag.
Tada! It’s like you’re doing magic tricks while preparing your holiday gifts. You are so awesome.
Slip you Target GiftCard® into the luggage tag holder and then replace the string.
No matter how you wrap this one: gift bag, box, stocking, your wanderlust-filled loved one will love it.
Another person most of us have in our lives: The Bookworm. I love my bookish friends. T hey are loyal and have great imaginations. What do they really want? Another book. Easy peasy. But le t’s be honest, these folks won’t buy food because they have another novel they “need.” So here is a way to give them what they 3want and whatthey need. You can buy them that book (Target has a great selection and a lot are 20% off list price!) and slip a gift card in this cute Santa Bookmark / Target GiftCard® holder:
I used four papers to create a fun little bookmark / gift card holder. Shiny gold, pearl white, red velour, and black matte.
I used my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine to cut these shapes (use this downloadable file to easily create your own.) White backer, “Merry Christmas”, Gold Belt Buckle, Black Belt, Red bottom.
Slip the gold belt buckle piece over the black belt piece.
I used a Scotch double-sided adhesive roller (available at Target) to place adhesive to the back on the red velour, keeping the adhesive on the sides and bottom only.
After attaching the red velour, I placed a line of adhesive along the back of the black belt piece and attached to the red velour.
Next, I used the same adhesive to attach the “Merry Christmas” Piece to the top of the white backer card.
I slipped the card inside and used it as a book mark.
This last one is for two types of people: The Starving College Student -or- The Joker. I know you have one of these coming to mind right now. The Starving College Student is just that – broke kids who can barely afford food. The joker friends are the life of the party and constantly helping others take life less seriously. Now’s your chance to turn the tables on the prankster and make the Starving College Student’s day. Allyou need is a Big Cup Noodles from Target (less than $1, gotta love that price!). This one takes a little effort, like all good pranks… so follow these instructions to pull a fast one that both types of people will enjoy:
Get yourself a Big Cup Noodle.
Using an exacto knife, carefully cut ¾ around the bottom of the cup, leaving a portion still connected.
Slip the Target GiftCard® into the bottom.
Using your hot glue gun, reattach bottom of Cup Noodles.
If you love giving gift cards, these are 3 creative ways to package the card that shows the receiver a little extra special love without breaking your bank.
Now your starving college student (or prankster) will open this and think that you either love them, or hate them… depending on how hungry they are 🙂 But when they open the top of the soup, they will really love you. (Just make sure they open it in front of you … you don’t want that Target GiftCard® getting tossed in the trash because they “don’t like Chicken Soup.” Plus that way you will get to see the joy on their face when they realize the prank.)
If you love giving gift cards, these are 3 creative ways to package the card that shows the receiver a little extra special love without breaking your bank. So get yourself to Target (or hit up Target.com) and get what you need to give the gifts that 90% of people say they really want: a Target GiftCard®.
