One thing I love about living in Southern California is all the fresh produce. Every month of the year brings something wonderful to the table. Starting around Christmas and going until late spring is citrus season. Oranges, cuties, and lemons abound. I love cooking with and eating the citrusy goodness. The smell is divine and so uplifting, I love to diffuse lemon and “citrus fresh” essential oils. I also love displaying it. You can always find a huge white ceramic bowl on my dining table full of fruit. Citrus is such happy fruit. So in ode to the precious lemon, I have created this cute lemon wreath that conveys the happiness of this fruit.
What you need:
1 Styrofoam Wreath
1 Roll burlap
Yellow ribbon (this one has white polka dots)
2 sprigs Faux Lemons
How you make it:
Start by wrapping your wreath in burlap to cover it. Then use one length of burlap to create a pocket on the right side. Secure with straight pins. I like to use pins as opposed to hot glue because it makes the pocket adjustable in case you make it too loose or too tight – no problem, readjust and re-pin.
Then, flip the wreath over and secure the ribbon at the top of the pocket with a pin. Wrap the ribbon around the wreath, keeping and equal distance between the ribbon on the face of the wreath. Once you have reached the bottom of the pocket on the back of the wreath, secure with another pin. Again, pins work well because you can easily make adjustments to the ribbon. Once secure, cut the ribbon from the spool.
Last, slip the sprigs of faux lemon into the “pocket” you created in step one.
And there you have it. This sweet wreath will great your visitors with joy, which will set a lovely tone for your visitors’ time in your home.
