Last week we moved. I like my new city. It’s so very unique! Our little rental is a HUGE improvement, cuz instead of one bedroom… it has two! Whew! Big sigh of relief. Here’s the new bedrooms:
Which is a huge improvement over the room we used to share with our sweet toddler girl:
As you can see the pink mid-centry modern piece went into Ava’s room, along with her toddler bed, which she is qucikly growing out of. We will replace it with bunk beds, because it’s her dream to have bunk beds, and sooner rather than later we will be getting to the “sleep over” phase of girlhood. So sweet. We already updated her bedding, as you can see we are going with an intense salmon and a lighter teal, and I am in LOVE with it. This will be the inspiration colors for the upcoming “big girl room” redo. I think it’s time to ditch all the baby pink for a more mature color palette – so bittersweet as a momma, to see your baby growing up so quickly!
We have taken the French Provincial dresser that we used to use as an entertainment center in the last house and moved it into the Master Bedroom as our dresser. Amazingly we had three people sharing the pink MCM dresser in the last house. I am so happy that our clothing has room to breath as they are now spread between two dressers! The white glider that was in our living room is now back in Ava’s room where it originally lived when we bought it in 2009.
This new rental has charming white walls, which I LOVE. It’s a breath of fresh air after the yellow of the last rental. You know how I love me some white.
Also, we have added something we have never had before: a screen in the Master bedroom. I have never had a TV in our bedroom. For the first 8 years of marriage my husband said he “couldn’t live without cable.” But being overseas in Roatan and not having US cable detached us from “needing” to be up on all the current TV shows. So, we did not reconnect when we moved home. We do use Netflix and DVDs to get our entertainment fix. So I finally broke and said ok to a screen in the bedroom… it is also my husband’s desktop computer (which he rarely uses.) But since it is white I said okay. I think my husband is excited to have a second screen in the house. You’re welcome baby!
And in the spirit of keeping it real – there’s a reason I am not showing you the other room just yet (read: boxes full o’crap!) and heres the view from around the other side of the bed that is conveniently blown-out in the panoramic photo, more boxes and bags of stuff yet to be unpacked. And this room has a weird shape, and I had no idea what to do with that space, so I gave it to the dog… she seems to like it.
So, we moved. I started a second website (illifit) and then… when I was out running I stepped off a curb incorrectly and jacked my ankle and the bottom of my foot. As you can see from the illifit instagram pics, my ankle was pretty swollen the next day. And on day 3 of it being angry I followed the advice of my friends and family and got an x-ray.
So now I am in a soft cast. Thankfully I just got word that there is no break or fracture! Praise the Lord. I just have to hobble around in the soft cast and crutches for 4 more days. Which kinda stinks because we are headed to Pheonix this weekend to see the ever amazing bestie – Acacia (who is amazingly inspiring – go check out her story of getting fit and losing 30 lbs in a year! I am so proud of her determination! Check it out here.) We will be flooding your IG feed with our shenanigans and I apologize in advance 🙂
