Have you ever heard of Dressember? I have a friend who I keep in touch with via Facebook who has done it for the past few years. I see it in my feed. Every day for the month of December she wears a dress. A simple act. A feminine act. A commitment on a cold December morning! But it’s so much more than a fashion challenge this year. Dressember is partnering with International Justice Mission, a human rights agency that brings rescue to victims of slavery, sexual exploitation, and other forms of violent oppression, to raise awareness for their cause to continue to do good work here in the USA and abroad. Yes, there is human trafficking that happens right here in the good ol’ US of A. Maybe in your own hometown. And it is organizations like IJM that fight for freedom for those people who do not have what we as US Citizens see as a basic human right.
To do my part to raise funds for International Justice Mission I have agreed to wear a dress every day in December (and for those who know me, this is a challenge for a jeans and T-shirt lady like myself) but you have the opportunity to help too. I am looking for partners to give whatever they feel like giving – $0.50/day, $1/day, a time donation of $20… whatever you feel like giving! And 100% of your tax-deductible donation will go directly to IJM to help free people from human trafficking and end modern day slavery.
