Gift giving can be a challenge. Especially for kids. If you need gift ideas for girls 6-8 years old, this is the place! As the mom of a 7 year old I feel confident in the accuracy of this list, as we own most of these toys and the ones we do not own are currently on my daughter’s wish list. If you are reading this list and think it looks too pink, or whatever, just know that this is an actual 7 year old girl’s wishlist, so it is probably gonna be a little more pink than most wishlists. I feel like you can’t go wrong with softcover books. Pinkalicious and Fancy Nancy have been huge with the 1st and 2nd grade crowd. Kids love them and the parents will be grateful too because: Knowledge is Power!
Cat’s Cradle is the classic string game that has been keeping kids occupied forever. It strengthens hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Plus, it’s super fun.
These bike lights are perfect for encouraging kids to be more active (and to ditch the training wheels!) Plus, they make your bike look like a Christmas tree, which is awesome.
You might think these Beanie Boos are creepy, but trust me when I tell you that 6-8 year old girls think these are “adorbs” because they are like Beanie Babies with giant eyes and they are are super popular.
These flying sling shot monkeys are extra awesome because they scream monkey sounds as they fly through the air. I suggest you buy one for every member of the family and then prepare yourself… because it will turn into a flying sling shot monkey war. And it will be epic.

Topping the “under $20” list is Shopkins. These tiny toys are a HUGE hit with 6-8 year old girls. Think of them like Polly Pocket, but in food form. The giant eyes make things cute for girls this age (see Beanie Boos above.)
American Girl Books came out in the 90’s and are still going strong with the 6-8 year old girl crowd. These books are the perfect first chapter books for young readers and introduce girls to history in a way they can relate with.
Mermaid Barbie. What can I say? Little girls love mermaids. And Barbie. And this one can go into the bath tub which makes her that much more awesome. As a mom I love her because her bathing suit top is painted on (read: no naked Barbie lounging in my tub… it weirds me out guys.)
How magical are these Butterfly Wings? I love that these do not have a wire frame which means they are packable, don’t get all bent up like the other kind, and they flutter in the breeze. So cool!
Who doesn’t love Giant Bubbles? 6-8 year old girls, that’s who. In fact, they love them. Because this age is young enough to still be silly but old enough to have the motor skills needed to make the bubbles, this gift has the potential for hours of entertainment.

6-8 year old girls still love stuffed animals and these Gund Teddy Bears are the softest and most well-made ones out there. Totally worth the investment because kids keep them forever, unlike the cheap ones that break or get scratchy.
Remember how I said 6-8 year old girls love mermaids? Now they can be one with this mermaid tail blanket. We have a similar one and my daughter uses it all the time!
Remember moon shoes? I wanted these sooo bad as a kid. Don’t worry, they’re still as awesome today as they were in the 80s. Parents love them because they encourage kids to exercise (read: it tires them out.)
6-8 year old girls have all those Shopkins I mentioned above. And they get EVERYWHERE. This Shopkins Organizer is really a gift for the parent because you’re saving their feet from stepping on those little creatures, but 6-8 year old girls are just learning to organize collections and keep their rooms clean, which means they will love this too.
What 6-8 year old kid doesn’t want a walkie talkie, and a secret club with a password? These are no joke, super durable, rechargable, and long range. Plus, they’re rad… one word: belt clip!

One of the best gifts we were ever given was a kids table and chairs set. This is the perfect size for lego building, art making, and tea parties. It has gotten so much use and can double as kids seating if the adult table is full.
Kids teepees have been all the rage for the past few years, and with good reason: 6-8 year olds love forts, secret clubs, and book nooks, and pretty much any cozy place to call their own. This is a great way to foster that emerging independence in 6-8 year olds.
This is the perfect gift for the tactile girl who likes to create. 6-8 year olds are ready for a sewing machine and this one just right for them, not too complicated and good quality which will hold up if they continue sewing into their teenage years. This can teach a valuable skill, increase patience and focus, and help them feel accomplished when they create useful items for themselves and others.
This Platform Swing looks like SO much fun! 6-8 year olds in America are deficient in their vestibular balance, this is the perfect swing to help them develop core strength and spacial awareness, plus all their friends can pile on, which makes for a really good time.
Magnatiles are one of the best gifts we have received in the last year. Not only will your kids learn about magnets (hooray for science) but they will also learn how shapes can work together, and flex their imaginations by creating epic buildings for their dolls and action figures to explore.
