You guys know how much I love Target right? So when they asked me to share their #MyKindOfHoliday Thanksgiving goodies I was like, “Totes! Cuz I love you guys.” So FYI this is a sponsored post. But they didn’t have to bribe me too much because I love their goods – just check my Instagram for all the real life shots from inside Target.
Let’s talk about Thanksgiving – which has now become the forgotten child of American holidays. Sandwiched between the “Yeah fall” Halloween hoopla and “OMG only x# of days until” Christmas craziness. Poor lil ol Thanksgiving is like an after thought for some people. But not in this home. I try to keep fall and Thanskgiving alive for as long as possible. *Disclaimer: Yes, I listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving, much to some people’s chagrin, but to be fair – that is a moot point because I listen to Christmas music in July and it does not diminish my love for Independence Day either.* Ok, now that that is cleared up … I like to think of Thanksgiving as Fall’s last hurrah. Which it is, because the next day the Christmas decor goes up. So I like to give Thanksgiving it’s dues. I like to class it up. I buy a new outfit, preferably with sparkle, and set my table, also with sparkle. In my mind Thanksgiving is a classy version of the big family dinner. Probably because as a child my Grandmother always busted out her legit 1950s cocktail rings for Thanksgiving and I would sit across the table and watch them catch the light. I have always been drawn to sparkles, and gold, and let’s be honest – diamonds. This year Target has provided me with some oh so dreamy Thanksgiving table decor, with all the shimmer and shine 8 year old me imagined in my very own grown up table.
Sparkly gold and silver dots on the glasses and bread plate, metallic striped bowls, gold accented placemats, silver flatware, mercury glass candle holders, and my hands down fav – the beaded deer placemat that I used in the middle of the table. Those little seed beads catch the light and look amazing. Plus, how freaking cool is that deer?! He is chillin on my table. I want to hang him on my wall. I will write up a tutorial on that if I do it, k?
What are your Thanksgiving plans?
