The green lifestyle is my new norm since finding out I have an auto-immune disorder and a genetic mutation (find out about that journey here). So now I am diligent about checking ingredient labels and finding things to improve my health. From what I put into my body to how I spend my time, I am all about healthy choices. One thing I am making an effort to do is spend time with my girl.
Last week, we spent a lovely day on the lake. It was the perfect summer picnic. When organic fruits are in season we eat as much as we can! Grapes, cherries, and nectarines are our current favorites.
We were recently introduced to an American classic, The Mountain Valley Spring Water. This bottle is a hipster’s dream. Quality product, awesome history, a beautiful logo, and it is available at Whole Foods. I love it because of its simplicity. The Mountain Valley Spring Water is mineral-rich with a high in PH (7.8 – Alkaline.) From my research, many bottled waters available today have an acidic ph (below 7.0). Mountain Valley water’s naturally high alkalinity helps offset the stress of modern acidic diets. Plus, I like the taste.
The good food and drink, the dappled sunlight, the cool breeze, the gentle lapping of water on the shore… the logical conclusion was to enjoy this day to it’s fullest, and take a nap.
Ava chose our foldable wagon that we used to get to the lake, and I chose this shady tree. It was one of those magical days where I thought we would just have “a fun time at the lake” and in the end it’s one of those “perfect summer day” memories that I will cherish – our perfect summer picnic at the lake.
How are you embracing summer?
