On Saturday we threw a Christmas party for my husband’s staff. They work super hard and deserve a super fun party. So we decided a Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Party would fit that description. I figure, “What do 20-somethings like?” Oh, that’s right, Nerf Guns. Um, these ones Guardian the the Galaxy Nerf Guns are awesome, check out what they can do:
You can almost hear it go “ca-cha” as the gun automatically opens up. So cool. And let’s be honest: I look pretty bad with this in my hands, amiright? And this is that it looks like then you get ambushed:
And this is Star Lord. Evan wore this costume the whole night. I think he secretly loved it. Behind Evan is the Christmas wreath and Guardians of the Galaxy vinyl decal to go over our food table. (You can download the Silhouette cut file for the “Guardians of the Galaxy” decal here and the “Merry Christmas” decal here.) With this being a Christmas party I decided to make a traditional Christmas dinner.
And we made these super fun Baby Groot Cupcakes:
I found the tutorial here and used this 3D printed cookie cutter to make the baby groot cookies. This trick we found is making them really thin so they kept their shape without spreading and get very crispy. Then after we pulled them from the oven we used a knife to give their features more definition (like the abs this guy had in my Instagram post.) We had a great time, great tunes, and a great movie to end the night:
The party was super fun. We loved it. I think the unexpected theme made for a great time. And the nerf guns. Those made it really fun. What’s the quirkiest / most fun party theme you have ever thrown or been too? (I need more ideas!) If you love Guardians of the Galaxy, then I totally suggest a Guardians of the Galaxy party. Especially the nerf guns and cupcakes. Actually, you could just have those on hand after any weeknight dinner and your family will have a blast. Promise.
